Our Objective is to send a WNAAC chapter representative to NTID/RIT in Rochester NY every year in (date to be determined) to attend the National NTID Alumni chapter meeting. Our Representative will be bringing any information learned back from the meeting and share with the WNAAC chapter. This includes hotel, airplane, and rent a car fees. It could be about $300 to 400 dollars for that event alone. It means one of us gets to fly to NY for a weekend. A volunteer to attend will be selected by the WNAAC Chapter Executive Committee.
We as a chapter, should host fundraising events by volunteering, donating, supporting and attending WNAAC fundraising events that we'll be brainstorming during WNAAC's March 20th Annual meeting. One idea we're tossing around is hosting a Silent / ASL Idol event in the Fall of 2004 where people can do an ASL song, story or poem in front of 3 judges during taped auditions, and then host several events where the audition finalists perform in front of a live audience with our 3 judges are voted on by the audience. If anyone is interested in volunteering, or brainstorming for this event please contact me at harb.deaf@verizon.net.
A percentage of funds raised during each event, will be kept for the WNAAC chapter operating costs, and fees as well as sending our Chapter Representative to New York.
We're also responsible for supporting donations to RIT/NTID. They don't look at how much we give, but how many of us give. For example, they like to see 10 people give 1 dollar, than 1 person give 10 dollars, and 9 people nothing. So as an Alumni Chapter, we all should donate some kind of amount to NTID on a yearly basis. The WNAAC chapter with your name can make donations, or you can send them directly to this address (to be announced).
At the end of the year, any extra funds raised, donated to WNAAC will be sent to NTID as a donation, and we'll be starting the 2005-year with a fresh start and the cycle will repeat every year. Your participation and involvement on a yearly basis is crucial to the survival of the WNAAC chapter.
