We have our Annual meeting scheduled for March 20th, 1 pm to 5 pm at Laurent Clerc Hall at CSCDHH. The purpose of this meeting is to get together and socialize. Share in exchange of ideas for fundraising purposes, and sign up to volunteer for certain events planed by WNAAC. Our WNAAC Secretary Susan J. Izak (SVP '70) will be documenting the event and we'll get it posted on our website for Alumni who missed the event.
It will be a potluck/meeting event; we're asking people to bring a food dish for the Alumni to sample. It can be anything but chips. The WNAAC Executive Committee will provide a Main dish, to be determined later. The event will give us a chance to reconnect and network among the NTID Alumni, plus meet new members who have just moved into the state. We will also be hosting CSCDHH's Silent games for that evening at 7 pm. You are welcome to stay and support the event.
As a Chapter, we're also responsible for recruiting prospective deaf and h/h people to attend NTID by simply being role models, and leaders in the community.
One way to do that is to have a College Night, where prospective High School juniors/seniors, and Community College students can come and meet the Alumni for NTID, Galladuet and possibly CSUN. I remember when I signed up for NTID; it was though people that I met who went to that school also. We hope to coordinate the event through CSCDHH and different Alumni chapters to host the event in the early summer. We hope to get Washington NTID Alumni and friends to come and attend this event.
In the Fall, CSCDHH's Program Coordinator: Advocacy, Information and Referral (AIR), and NTID alumni Chad A. Ludwig has invited NTID to send a recruiting representative during CSCDHH's Deaf Awareness week during the week of October 10th thru 16th. The exact day the NTID recruiter comes will be announced at a later date. We can help to support that event by attending, and meeting with prospective future students from Washington state, and the Northwest.
